Just thought I'd let those Beach Boys fans here know about Andy
O'Brien's new Beach Boys fanzine. It's only short, but it's
perfectly-formed, and would appeal to those of you who like Love You,
those with a sense of humour, and those with a love of the quirky
It's only short, and I wrote a good chunk of it, so I may be biased,
but I think you should get hold of a copy.
The contents are:
An article in defence of LA (Light Album) by myself and Holly Matthies.
A two-page article (the first in a series) on Mike Love's changing
hairstyles by Paul McNulty. Part 1 takes us as far as 1970. This could
be a great series...
Fanthropology - the first in a series of classifications of different
types of Beach Boys fan. This one looks at those who "owns hundreds of
Beach Boys CDs but his collection only covers two albums. One half of
his CD rack is taken up with Smile bootlegs, the other with Pet Sounds
reissues".
A piece where non-fans are played Smile and asked their reactions
