You're correct. It has nothing to do with Ashlee Simpson.
It has to do with the embarrassing behaviour of The Major Labels, Radio, and
The Way Things Work.
Credibility, Talent, Music and Musical/Songwriting skills have very little
if nothing to do with success/Radio airplay/getting a record deal.
The Shazaam: Talented. Real Musicians. Real Songwriters. Actually play and
sing. Tour. Pay dues.
Ashlee Simpson: Has Image. Youth.  Connections. Backing.
She has what bands and Artists like The Shazaam DESERVE. Her and her success
have NOTHING to do with music.
NOW do you see the deliciousness of what happened...and how bands like The
Shazaam are ignored for absolute crap. smoke and mirrors?
Cause if you don't...music and talent must not be very high on your list of
what's important to you when it comes to records and radio. That makes you
just like all the kids and deaf record/radio industry types that have damn
near destroyed the business.
