shh Don't tell anybody but all rock and roll is derivative of something else 
and i do suspect Beatles and Cheap Trick are 2 gigantic avatars for zillions 
of bands 
It does not take away the quality of songs or the song writing    
 if I know from whence they came.   imo

However 
if your saying the Move?
Then I'm even more likely to look at them for being original
because only you and 5 of your friends know the Move's catalogue 
 
Both Shazam and Cotton Mather are 2 great examples of reinventing influences 
without reinventing the wheel
