It's a problem with the emperor's clothes....no one has the balls to > properly edit these guys while they're being produced. Most particularly in > the case of McCartney who seems to use too many producers so as to not allow > anyone time enough to figure out exactly where his weak spots are Jaimie... Remember the "Tug of War" McCartney album?... Altho', IMO, the songs weren't really strong but there were a few shining moments and sonically the album sounded very decent; "Wanderlust" and "Here Today"... but aside if one loves or lurves (in the words of Woody Allen) the album one thing stands out from an interview with George Martin in reference to what you stated... Martin stated an interview that he had been invited by Paul to produce the album... the first thing he asked McCartney was for the demos and had the guts to tell him which songs he thought were rubbish and which had a chance... During the actual recording sessions he made Paul re-take many times and supposedly told him (paraphrasing) "We have to do this right for when the final product hits the streets"... So I guess this goes accordingly with what you stated... McCartney and Brian will need someone who, like Martin, isn't afraid to speak his mind and point them in the right musical/production direction... Who knows, we may actually get the "album of the millennuim" from Wilson/McCartney if someone comes along and gives them the right musical/production advice... Miguel
