interesting post! and great description of the genre - my absolute FAVORITE sub-genre (sorry guys, the lite chamber poppy stuff i dont dig too much - re-listened to that zombies album.. ug.. maybe the 1st song.. but also cotton mather i got too and cant stand...) ok, here's my 2 cents. i love weezer. AND superdrag. weezer for years. no one i know likes green and maladroit as much as me, they swear by the first two albums. but i like my stuff to POP. weezer's last 2 albums that i love have horrible last tracks, each one. superdrag is pretty much done. kicks to me sometimes sounds like the 'drag continued. which is good, but sad. getup kids i cant even handle. saw them open for weezer once, we called em the getupandgetouttahere kids, i dont even know how they got signed, for real. ultimate fakebook i like 1, maybe 3 songs. so the kicks is where its at for me. great lyrics, the guy knows how to DOUBLE his voice enough (hint, rivers - use more HARMONIES - if i can sing several part harmonies to an empty weezer song, it needs MORE - green was recorded where the BEACH BOYS recorded for chrissakes) and there ya have it. those bands are my favorite kinds of music (also see the gravel pit and figgs - oh MAN) myracle brah's treblemaker is stuck in my car cd player currently, and just heard neptunes clones - spymob IS amazing by the way - several songs on there.. oh man. best record i've heard this year maybe. spymob everywhere. it's like hiphop-powerpop. damn. everyone should also hear the CROCODILES and SWAG. have a good day kids, pray for my sliced finger jake "emergency room, here i come!" ----- Original Message ----- From: "AssociationWorks" To: Sent: Wednesday, June 30, 2004 2:08 PM Subject: Re: different Kicks Initially I was intrigued with the Kicks... big, powerful, fun rockin' power pop, but after listening to their s/t album on XS Records a few times I grew completely bored. These guys are talented but sound too much like too many other bands (Weezer, Get Up Kids, Superdrag, Ultimate Fakebook, etc...) to hold my attention for too long. my 2 cents... Jeff
