From: Leticia Lopez >there are some club dates coming through in mid july. love this record! Maybe they've improved their stagecraft now, but when I saw them a few months ago, they were the most tedious heap of blandness ever to take to a Bristol stage. The keyboard player provides a moment of amusement, but his frequent journeys away from his pre-programmed keyboards and his Bez-like gooning around, only distract you for a minute or two. I've never seen so many people walk out of a gig before. We were near the doors, so we heard the complaints as people walked past. The thing is, it wasn't a bad gig because the material was terrible - it's pretty good, though the album does have a fairly considerable amount of filler on it, IMO. And it wasn't because they were useless musicians - what wasn't on the backing tapes or pre-recorded sequences was well performed. It was bad because there was no feeling to the performance and no depth to the sound. Much of the audience was left completely cold by the experience. Very, very disappointing. That said, I've noticed some people on this list refering to the Stereophonics in a favourable tone, so there's clearly a market for the next Toploader. Step forward, the Delays. Shame, because there are 3 or 4 cracking tracks on their album. Matt. _________________________________________________________________ Want to block unwanted pop-ups?
