OK, I asked my brother whom he had seen at the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach, California, and to help me remember whom I had seen, too. Here is his reply below. HeyJude (Judy) www.superoldies.com www.topshelfoldies.com for the best in obscure '50s and '60s music ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I saw Linda Ronstadt after she'd left the Stone Poneys and gone solo. Her backup band may have been when some of the Eagles backed her up. Not actually sure who was in her band, though... I also saw Poco there. The first show we saw was the Sir Douglas Quintet in the spring of '66 when The Rains Came was a hit. Nitty Gritty Dirt Band opened up for them. That was the first time we saw Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. We saw them probably between 10-15 times there... I also saw Quicksilver Messenger Service there before their first album came out. I sat in the front row and put my glass of coke on the stage and watched it vibrate across the stage from the loud stage volume. I also saw Spirit there. Also, I saw the Paul Butterfield Blues Band when both Mike Bloomfield and Elvin Bishop were playing in the band. We saw several solo acts there as well... Pretty sure I saw Hoyt Axton there when he was still doing folk music... Later, I saw Jennifer Warnes there. I saw Larry Carlton there as well in the late '70s. And I've seen others, too... I also saw Laura Nyro in the rebuilt Golden Bear when they were trying to bring it back in the strip mall there...
