Don't hit me, but my favourite (note the appropriate Canadian 
spelling) cover (version ,even!) of "She may call you up tonight" 
is...wait for it...Anne Murray's. (as "He may call"). As horrible as 
what followed from her may be, her first couple of albums are pretty 
first-rate. Especially the Gene MacLellan tunes, imho.

I don't know what it was called in the US, but the Canadian album 
it's from is "This way is my way". A quick check tells me it's 
available on cd now, as a twofer with "Honey, Wheat and Laughter". 
All the Anne Murray you need, if you need any.
