Bruce: >One thing about Sal Balgio, who is Rock E.Rollins' frontman....he was the >lead singer and front man for a Boston-great band in the late 70's/early >80's called The Stompers. Legendary, in Boston, live performances, a >handful of which I saw back in the day......they released one album on >Boardwalk in 1982, which was delete4d and then reissued by another >quasi-major label distributed label in 1983 and re-packaged. Both bombed. >Great material, yucky production(the drum sound was so 1982!). They were >a >grittier, streety version of Southside Johnny with more melody. > >Sal was great then, so it's not surprise he's still a pro now. > Yes, the Stompers played many times at my college (Brandeis). I've got that album on Boardwalk, which featured a song that seemed to be a regional hit at the time: "Never Tell an Angel when Your Heart's on Fire," which kind of reminded me of Jackie Wilson's "Higher and Higher." In fact this album was produced by the Ritchie Cordell, who died recently and wrote all those great Tommy James songs, etc. Good to hear Sal Baglio's still at it. _________________________________________________________________ Getting married?
