I've had an advance for this for a few weeks and have similar thoughts as Dan's. There's nothing as rocking as what was on Summerteeth or Being There, nor is it as left field as some of the tracks on Yankee. Lots of middle of the road pop songs with occasional nods to Yankee. Overall pretty good, but not their best work.

On a related note, they're apparently still tinkering with the tracks as what's on their website is different than what's on the advance.

Wilco is once again streaming there new album before it's release.  "A Ghost
Is Born" is available for streaming at www.wilcoweb.net.  After a few
listens, it sounds like it may appeal to a wider range of people on this
list.  

I consider Yankee Hotel Foxtrot a masterpiece, so I'm trying to give this
one the benefit of the doubt...follow-up syndrome and all.  This sounds like
the album that Warner Bros probably wanted in the first place - a lot of
poppy piano-based songs that could've rode the Ben Folds hit wave, with some
(too?) long experimental jams to keep it interesting - but also less
original sounding.  This might end up being a grower...but right now it only
strikes me as a nice batch of songs.
