Well I thought I would just chime in and also say that I could be included in the freelance writer dept as I have a column in the local arts/? mag here in DE. It is called unchained and it highlights independent local businesses- i.e. theatres, diners, vintage clothing, icecream, whatevers. A BIG passion for me as well as good music. I have also had my foray into record reviews via the indulgent folks at the Bystander- one for the latest FOW masterpiece and in the latest ish a glowing review of the Candy Butchers' gem. Written in the afterglow of the Boston Pop Underground event! Which leads me to 2 points, then I will digress and go to bed AFTER I have changed the clocks-- One is that- I, being a huge pop fan, have the most difficult time with music reviews, so that I have to concur that writing about music is like dancing about architechture. Actually the latter would be easier for me- but if it weren't for the compulsion to "spread the good news" about great new releases by FOW and Candy Butchers I would rarely open my trap about music. Coming from numerous first had experiences, I find that the more someone's music touches me, the more inarticulate I become in trying to explain the impact it has on me. (ie- my still fumbling attempt at answering "so what kind of music does your husband play?") In other writerly pop musings, and also in RE to FOW's Troubled Times---I have been thinking for a while now about writing a screenplay with PLENTY of pop music/musicians in it. Alas I am no good with the words but if anyone wants to help out with the writing bit, I have a good story! email me, :-) beth- http://www.groupiegear .com Rigby's mom has got it going on
