Jeff, A very strong list.  I'd disagree with Hall & Oates per some of 
their output but pain is somewhat subjective.

I'm pretty sure my list below were really all members of the same 
band, designed to destroy the sanity of the high school class of 77. 
Why this was pain was inflicted over the airwaves, I don't know and 
fear I'll never know.
