You will probably drop your collective jaw in wonder, but I have never seen either of the two Fountains of Wayne videos that have been the center of discussion lately, because I don't watch music videos on TV, ever - well, at least not in the past 10+ years. Seems every time I turn it on, it is a rap video, a britneypop diva, a 20ish yr old angst band, a new "country" act, or some combination of the above, so I gave up. But I'd like to see these videos and judge for myself. Any way I can do this without tuning into MTV for days on end? Also, must mention that last weekend I was in Chicago and had the great fortune of experiencing for the first time NRBQ live. A BIG thank you to Mike Bennett for giving me the scoop on the gig! Let me say that it was a religious experience - from the second they hit the stage, and they did indeed hit it, they were a great force of nature. They hit me like a tornado. Me and probably everyone else in the packed place enjoyed, smiled, laughed, danced, got goose bumps, drank, yelled, and did all the things that the best rock and roll does to you - for the entire time that they were on stage. It was purely joyous. The Qs do indeed Rock with a capital R. (and funk, and pop - in fact, they are the epitome of funk pop a roll!) It is rare for me that something that is hyped to me for years as being great - in this case, I have heard a zillion times that NRBQ are one of the best bar bands going - turns out to meet my expectations. In fact, they exceeded the hype and the expectations. If anyone has a chance to ever see them, please do, you won't regret it!
