~~~i entirely agree. i love mexican wine as a song, but much like 'stacy's mom,' i have now had it super messed up by the images of women (four of them, no doubt) super suggestively shaking themselves around in next to nothing in what seems to me a blatant pander to the super sexually charged atmosphere of the MTV world. and sorry that i'm so out of it, but i entirely missed the 'rio' deal, and i was AROUND when that video was around. i'm thinking the young humans watching the mtv these days (when there IS the M on) haven't got a CLUE to the slight homage alluded to there. recently, i've been finding that people in the age range from 19-23 have NO clue about recent pop culture history. i'm not even talking about reagan getting shot or the challenger blowing up. to wit: a couple of days ago, i was watching 'little house on the prairie' (whatever, i won't even defend it anymore...my watching, that is) and my friend's cousin walked in the room (23 years old?) and had NO IDEA WHAT THE SHOW WAS. "i've heard of the books, but..." this absolutely flabbergasted me. anyway, i'm digressing. point being, there was way more ass shaking and shots of members of the band staring at chicks than real content there. and i HATE when a band becomes popular and the fans cry "sell out", but.... this is really disturbing. i also would postulate the lack of a gold record despite seeing the boys all over the place would actually be a true example of the downloading phenomenon hurting them. i'd wager a guess that a lot of their 'fans' got on board for 'stacy's mom' and only care to hear that song, and got on their computers and sucked it down. or, maybe bought it via iTunes, at best. on a nice note, i got back from a vacation on tuesday, and heard "hey julie" on someone's car radio on a spring day in chicago with both our windows down on lake shore drive. my .05, jocelyn --- Anna Borg wrote: > That video was pretty much garbage...several bands > have already done a mock of "Rio" and they really > have > to stop using pre-teen girls in their videos, no > matter how "innocent" it appears.
