alrighty, prog lovers, i have a question for you: what is the concensus on the Mars Volta "deloused in the comatorium?" I loved "Tom Sawyer" as much as the next radio listener back in the day, but never made the move in the proggy directions (for instance, i could never get into my bro's King Crimson)...however, the three songs i've heard off of this (check www.marsvolta.com) are making me mighty curious. These guys (formerly in At the Drive In) wrote this epic about their friend, who committed suicide: the "storyline" is about him attempting it but slipping into a coma for a week, the experiences he has while he's out, and then coming out of it and deciding to kill himself for good. They claim it's a celebration of his fearlessness and life. Of the songs I've heard, I like "Televator" the most...I understand that the available songs are among the most accessible and at-the-drive-in-y. Just wondering if any of you folks have heard it and what you thought of it, especially as it compares to other proggy rockers of yore. I've heard it compared to the indie rock The Wall (wasn't that sort of indie rock at the time anyway?) Ah yes, and this reminds me of an Onion horoscope that I cherish: "Quelling the unrest in the forest will leave very little time for your prog-rock band this weekend." Bless the onion: --kelly --- David Bash wrote: > --- In audities@yahoogroups.com, "Jaimie Vernon" > > wrote: > > > Kerry....if you like "Cygnus X-1" by Rush, I gotta > hook you up with some > Max > > Webster, FM and Zon, dude....Cancon > Prog....weeehaaaaawwww. > > > > Jaimie Vernon > > FM?
