I have been listening to the Darkness a lot after all the recent mentions on this list as well.  I concur..this album has great hooks..it is a fun album..and while the falsetto is there in all its glory..it does not really take away from the songs..in fact..in some cases..it is just soooo classic!!..especially when he yells out "guitar!"..just before the solo..classic!
 
all in all, the Darkness album has more hooks in it than most of the Kiss catalog..speaking of another novelty band I love..so if you like Kiss..seems Darkness should be right up the alley..
 
UFO?..great comparison..plus..I think that this may the first time UFO and the great Michael S. has been mentioned on this list..way to go guys!  Dio!..even better..I loved that first album or two(?) with Vivian Campbell on "GUITAR!"...Vivian is now a permanent member of Def Leopard..no?
