Speaking as an American who LOVES The Darkness ... I get it, and so do others here in the States. For me, it's almost a nostalgic reaction. The Darkness is like the great lost '70's rock album just uncovered. Throw in Queen, Thin Lizzy, AC/DC, Boston, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow -- even some 38 Special -- and you don't even begin to touch all the influences that seem to spark chemical reactions in my memory. Oh, and not to be judgmental, but how the hell did The Thorns disc make it into the top friggin' 9 on the Best of 2003 list??? Jesus, what an overhyped, overproduced and underwhelming piece of crap that was, IMHO. Grandaddy's disc alone was SO much better. Let the arguments proceed! JK
