Here's a project I'm working on and I thought "Who better to ask than Auditeers?"

One of my dearest friends is celebrating his 40th birthday on March 11th. I've been wracking my brain over a special gift for him and finally decided to just ASK. ;) Here's his reply:

" i was thinking about what i wanted for my 40th birthday and decided what i really wanted was a celebration of my life in music . . . the most important song of the year (or song that captured the zeitgeist of the year) for each year of my life on 2 or three discs."

What a great idea! I wish I'd thought of that for my 40th!  So I'm throwing this one out to the "floor" of Audities.  Any suggestions for songs? Also, research sources of song charts would be much appreciated. That website with the song on the day you were born and the US, Australian and UK number one charts someone posted a few months ago was very helpful. But I'd love more URLS if you have them.
