One night(in New Haven, Ct.) they were a drunken shambles and never made it through one song. Chris Mars fell off his drum stool during their cvr. of The Grass Roots "Temptation Eyes". I didn't know wether to laugh or to cry. It was unbelievable One night I saw them (in Providence, RI-The Living Room) on the Tim tour and to this day I still say that it was one of the most breathtaking Rock & Roll concerts that I ever saw in my life. All I kept thinking was "this is what it is all about"! After they lost Bob the level of professionalism increased a lot but most of that maniacal "anything might happen" element was gone. Poor Bob was a real mess though in many ways. I am not saying that they still weren't GREAT though afterwards. Like Steve pointed out....it was a different set of dynamics. Some of the best Replacements gigs that I ever saw were on their final tour (without Chris Mars) for All Shook Down. Once again it was a different set of elements. MB
