For me, the one who most typifies the "had it / lost it" has to be Rod Stewart. From "Every Picture Tells A Story" to "Blondes Have More Fun" in 6 short years. Other than money, there's just no excuse. As for Ryan Adams, I think the worst concerts which I've experienced have been the ones where the performer/band came out and performed the latest album note-for-note. No spontaneity, no veering from the rehearsed versions, no life to the performance. One of the most memorable (not necessarily best) shows I've seen was watching the Replacements make absolute fools of themselves falling off the stage while ingesting more alcohol than the entire audience combined. Maybe Ryan needs to drink *more*? >Date: Tue, 16 Dec 2003 17:28:18 -0700 >From: Not Lame >To: >Subject: More Adams >Message-ID: > >But, personally, I'll take ALWAYS never knowing what to expect w/ any artist >I'm going to take the time to go see.  Knowing full well w/ someone like >Adams, well, it may be 'miss' on any given night. > >Speaking of, here's a GOOD thread.   GREAT songwriters who just TOTALLY lost >the clue, the path, the vision-thing, the kaboodle---after shining greatness >for a short(or long) time. > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Add photos to your messages with MSN 8.
