well, I dunno about the recent headlines.... since we've been discussing the recent Beatles thingie..I spun my Get Back single and the whole of the Let It Be album. My response after listening to the new cd: get rid of your computer shit and go back to analog. Ok. Let It Be is tape delay and echo. There is loads of distortion, stuff is just shoved up in the mix, and it sounds fab. My real complaint about the new one isn't cheap digital reverb or auto tune, which I don't hear; it's the way they made Billy Preston's Rhodes piano sound like some crappy digital piano. If you listen to the old scratchy album there are times when the acoustic guitar is the loudest element. The vocals are never as clear as the new one. That said, Naked is just a different thing. It proves the point I've been trying to make for years. Your digi stuff stinks. Rock and Roll is suppose to sound gritty. An unnamed drummer in my band asked last night, when am I gonna get pro tools? Unspoken answer: well if you want your drums to sound good, never! Now I'm sure about all that noise and distortion. It's suppose to sound like that. You guys are gonna be beggin' me to record here pretty soon, 'cuase all you plug-ins and shit are shit...If it don't move, go home. ron "I ain't gonna get any younger" sanchez -- Ronald Sanchez Director Of A&R Career Records www.CareerRecords.com The Donovan's Brain Web Site www.Donovans-Brain.com
