David Gates plays a show in his hometown of Tulsa every year or so. He looks like a 60 year old country gentleman now, but his voice is still still sounds like 1969....simply awesome. The time I saw him he did not disappoint...he played all his Bread standards, a few solo gems, and even a couple of new songs, one of which was in the league of his Bread standards. I would love to see another pop album from him. I had my own set of ears, if I liked a song on the radio I bought their music and attended their gigs. You mention Bread, for example. They are one of my favorites. Two distinct songwriters in David Gates and Jimmy Griffin, and their songs were marvelous. They both were successful apart from Bread, and their music is still being recorded - case in point, "Everything I Own" was just done by the Connells and included on the 2003 Sparklefest CD. The Connells performed it on Sparkle- Saturday as well. See ya, Sherman __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
