Literally. I've got a 5 disc Sony player and was listening to International Pop Overthrow" this morning. I went out for awhile, and left the CD in the player. When I got home, I was going to put the CD away, and opened the player...nothing there. No CD. OK. I look around, thinking I'd done it before I left, and close the drawer, and there it is, like a phantom, still in the player. Repeat. Same thing. It's not sitting in the tray anywhere, but then I close the tray, it reads, and yes, plays. If I hit "skip disc", it's still shows up...like there are 5 of them in there. I also did the following: put in 5 totally horrid discs that I didn't mind losing in the deep recesses of the player. Read 'em all, and spit those back out, but the trio of fine Chicagoans is still stuck. And I unplugged the machine. No luck with that either. Now I like Material Issue as much as the next person, but I'd love to be able to get the disc out, and not have this happen again. Anyone have any experience with this? I'm guessing I can just unscrew a few screws here and there and take the top off and get the disc out, so I guess I'm looking for preventative measures more than anything else... Maybe I should just be asking for recommendations on good cheap players.... Steve
