Great post and I agree with everything that you said!  I totally forgot how 
much I loved the drumming on Beck's Truth lp.  BJ Wilson was also great with 
Procoul and even on Lou Reed's Berlin lp.
Which brings to mind another great drummer when he is in his element:  Kenny 
Jones.
He was incredible with The Faces (Big and Small) and on Rod's early solo 
platters yet I don't think that he was totally suited for The Who.
