The people that will have the toughest time with music distributed via download will NOT be the kids. Indeed, they are cogs in the wheel that is driving the current state of unrest. Kids adapt to new technology much better than adults do. Seems to me that they will definitely not be the ones left behind. Especially those who buy small amounts of music. It's the absolute best vehicle for those types. How the kids pay for the music that they want shouldn't take all that much thought. How about "Hey, Dad. Can I download the new XYZ song? Sure Chuck, you've been a good boy helping old ladies across the street and all. Let me know when you're ready to check out and I'll take care of it." My kids have purchased stuff online many times. I will always pay for it for them with my credit card (and that's because they always give cold, hard cash before the purchase). But, in any event there are easy ways to solve the problem of how the 10 yr old pays for the songs. >From: "Brian Keane" >Reply-To: audities@smoe.org >To: audities@smoe.org >Subject: Re: the death of the CD >Date: Fri, 05 Sep 2003 16:16:59 -0400 > >Mark writes: > > > But why on earth would anyone want to do this when they can do it > > at home on the computer, save on time, gas costs and it only costs > > them a $1 or less? > > > > > > > >Maybe in a couple of years you will bring your iPod to the mall or > > >supermarket, slide a couple of bucks into a vending machine, connect > > >your iPod and get a song or two, along with some art and lyrics. >And > > >kids may love it as much as we love the tactile thing. > > > >A few possible reasons: > >I'm 10 years old and don't have a credit card.
