The consensus seems to be that this list of guitarists is, at best, a list of those whose recordings and/or live playing were stylistically influential, popular (for the most part), and variably proficient. At worst, all these artists contributed some indelible sonic memories. Such criteria suggests a lot of other candidates, and it's pretty entertaining to hear all the opinions about who should make the cut. A few votes here for some other sins of omission: 1) Lowell George 2) Pete Buck 3) David Lindley Hell, maybe even throw in Billy Gibbons.
