Just wanted to highly recommend the latest issue of Uncut, which includes a CD entitled "Eight Miles High: 19 Tracks Inspired By The Byrds." I hadn't previously been familiar with Marc Carroll or actually heard anything by Captain Soul, but, now, they've both caught my interest. Cool inclusion of Diesel Park West doing "Turn! Turn! Turn!" and a much appreciated taste of the new Cosmic Rough Riders album with "For A Smile." I think my only complaint is that they leaned a bit too heavily on tracks from an apparently-forgotten Byrds tribute album called "Time Between," as they've recycled that album's contributions from Giant Sand, Miracle Legion, and the Icicle Works...and, yet, there's no mention of the tribute album, oddly. They refer to the Icicle Works track as "included courtesy of Ian McNabb," then references releases by Giant Sand and Miracle Legion where you can find the tracks. I feel certain they were originally done exclusively for that compilation, so it's weird that it wouldn't even warrant a mention...but, oh, well... Regards, WiLL WiLLiAm E.
