> I've seen "audio" grade blanks at a local office supply store. Thinking > about > trying those. In my opinion, this is a ridiculous marketing ploy. There is nothing special about these "audio grade" CD-Rs. Data is data, and either the media is holding up or it isn't. That said, I strongly recommend Mitsui Gold for serious archival. I have never had a problem with them, and have important masters backed up on them going back to the early 90's. The company claims a 50 year life-span. Who knows if that will be true, but so far so good. I use Mitsui or Taiyo Yuden "silvers" for less critical stuff. They seem to work just as well so far, and have been given a 25 year shelf-life. You can buy all these on-line in bulk very reasonably. In my experience, Imation, TDK, and most of the other brands available at your typical Office Store are of questionable quality. They may work now, but I wouldn't trust them more than 5 years... even less for the blueish and greenish hued discs. Ryan
