Okay, throwing my two cents in this one.... I run powerpopradio.com and on a monthly (some times more frequent basis), I add new songs and rotate songs on my radio playlist. The process is pretty simple (so far)...I either receive CDs direct from artists or I go out and buy CDs to play on the radio station. In order to get them on the web for help promote this great music...I need to rip them from the CD, convert to mp3, and upload to the radio station. With copy protection on CDs, I'm prevented from doing that...and that means, my radio station can't be updated with new music. Like many people on this list..I have a huge music collection....1359 CDs and counting (to be precise). And though I don't have them all ripped, I frequently pull various CDs out and rip selected tracks from them. If I can't do that with newer CDs, then I just can't help promote this music. I love sharing great music with people...and unfortunately, copy protection is going to prevent me (in large part) from doing that.
