My most recent purchase was a Kent Records compilation entitled "LA's Silver Soul - Lee Silver's Symphonic Productions", which has some nice material on it, but it doesn't match up with the memories of thinking about that junior high crush who just turned you away for the jock and wanting to sing "I'll Be Around" to her for the day when she ultimately gets dumped. As for most recent non-compilation, it was the Pernice Brothers "Yours, Mine & Ours", and I'd have to rank it ahead of the Spinners. I'm really looking forward to the Pernice Bros show in Berkeley at the Starry Plough on July 5...nothing like having one of your favorite bands playing about 10 blocks from your home.
