Cooler if he was playing on the bill... > > Apologies to those of you who are reading this who are not in Chicago... but > Don't You Ever Attend a Show Vicariously? I do. Last Saturday night after > Peter and Cathy Kuehl's wedding reception, while Patti and I sat in the > Chicago Emergency Veterinary Services waiting room, we noted '"It's 10pm in > L.A., that means Michael Carpenter is taking the stage at the big show at > Molly Malone's.... now it's 11pm in L.A., that means Eugene Edwards Band > (one of our Chicago-IPO highlights) is playing *now*.." {yeah, we were at > the hospital until 2am CST but I'll save that for the cat-lovers board.} I have to tell you folks quickly about the MC show last night....at my house. In our backyard. Sir Carpenter was his usual warm, inviting self...but the crowd was a different one than what he's seen on this tour. We had about 35 adults and lots of kids running around the yard, tons of awesome food cooked by Not Lame's Marlene(she picks the orders here and is our resident 'mom') and local beer on tap, wine, etc.......and it was folks that are just friends of ours, mostly(some Not Lame customers came up from Denver and one drove 10 hours from Texas.....thanks to you all!). But it was really cool for them to sort of experience this kind of thing----as it *is*unusual in suburbia for folks w/ kids and normal jobs to go these sorts of shows. And our friends* really* loved it(and they got a better idea as to what I do for a living, as let's face it....most folks just don't get doing the 'rock 'n roll' thing so it was funny sort of seeing them 'ohhhhh, I get what you do now!") ......MC did two long sets....played almost 2 1/2 hours when it was all said and done. And his second set, we had a few friends who went home and put their kids to bed...and the other hubby came back as they were having such a good time. If any of you have a chance to see Michael(and meet his lovely and engaging wife, Kelly) at one of his shows as he travels East across the US, do yourself a favor......go! And drag along a friend or two who does not usually go to rock shows........ Roll 'n rawk, Bruce @ Not Lame
