Steve: What kind of computer setup (software and CD-R hardware) are you using? Im just curious because it was so easy for me. I just got an e-mail from Art Carey who also owns a Lite-On drive and he was able to rip tracks from the new Stones SACD combo discs. Check newegg.com for information on these drives. Lite-on drives are highly praised by computer geeks and gamers for thier fast speed and ablity to copy many protected games. They are a little noisy though, but since im always listening to music while working/surfing it doesnt bug me. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=manufactory&manufactory=133 6&catalog=5&DEPA=0&sortby=14&order=1 >I'm absolutely in favour of "sticking it to the man" in situations like >this. This form of copy protection (creating out-of-spec CD's that cannot be >read by some equipment and result in loss of fidelity) is just asking for >it. I resent not being able to make a personal-use-copy of music I've just >paid a ridiculous amount of money to own. I agree - I dont think its right for companies to assume that everyone who buys thier "product" is going to make copies of it or post it on Kazza. BTW I have heard that many Capitol/EMI/Virgin CD's are now copy protected. Has anyone had any problems? The last CD I can remember buying from Capitol was Coldplay's "A Rush of Blood to the Head" CD and It ripped/copied fine. Billy NP: Rooney S/T A nice surprise - a tighter/sweeter/smoother sounding Weezer (no outta tune guitars), with a little of FOW's influence. "If It Were Up To Me" is gonna wind up one my favorite songs of the year.
