I sort of quit watching MTV after the early glory days, thus: The greatest: Billy Idol "Dancing With Myself." Never bettered in concept or execution. The thought of the undead scaling that building and Billy dusting them off by hooking up to those transmission lines thrills me yet. Pure early-MTV thrills. The runners-up: Tie- Split Enz "One Step Ahead" and "Dirty Creature." Relatively straight ahead or "concept," both great. Also fondly remembered: Graham Parker and The Rumour "Local Girls." Funny, and gave a new, lighter perspective to the usual Parkerian disdain. Wax "Southern California" Spike Jonze and "fire! fire! fire!" 'Nuff said. Whatever happened to Wax, and save your smartass replies, popsters. For that matter, "Beavis and Butthead" need their own special memorial, I suppose. Donald Fagen "I.G.Y." One of the earliest and coolest computer animation vids. Tons more that y'all are helping me remember again. Anybody else miss "Night Flyte? R.I.P. Peter Ivers, b.s.
