I know Mike's review has generated some differing opinions, but he nailed my thoughts exactly. I'm a big Shoes fan, bought every LP since Black Vinyl (still have the original LP on BV Records), so that puts me back 25 years or so. Living in the Chicago area, I've seen them live numerous times over the years. Were they ever a "good" live band? No. Were they ever as bad as I witnessed Saturday night? No. I have no doubts they could deliver another killer LP if they wanted, but maybe the concept of live performances should be re-thought. I guarantee you, nobody became a Shoes fan Saturday night. Despite that, I still love them.... I thought Joe Giddings did a great job, given the fact that probably half the crowd was talking over his playing. Same w/ CVS. I thought King Radio was a winner, but they enjoyed probably the largest crowd of the night (roughly 10pm slot). From my balcony vantage point, it was obvious the crowd thinned considerably midway through the Shoes set. The Shazam, well they rocked of course. I left early, as they were still going at 1am and I had a 2 hour drive home. All in all, congratulations Bruce (&David) on Not Lame night. _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your e-mail with MSN 8.
