<<>> What a coinkidenk, i was just listening to an old old tape of Linda's Mad Love album - first time I'd listened to it in probably 20 years. I enjoyed it. Probably because it transported me back in time, not because it was a particularly great album. But I'd say it's a fun album. Her choice of covers was often good: for instance Party Girl, Girls Talk, I Can't Let Go - but let's face it, the songs were usually much better done by the original artists. Although I like Linda's take on ICLG - I think maybe the Continental Drifters listened to it once or twice before they did their version for the Hollies trib from a few yrs back. (The Drifter version, by the way, totally rocks and is by far and away my fave version of the song.) Back to Mad Love - which Cretones songs did Linda cover on Mad Love? Thinking about Ronstadt makes me think i should find a good cd comp of pre-80s Rondstadt - same with Carly Simon. I have a soft spot for the 70s female vocalists. Heck, female vocalists of any decade. I remember a thread here years ago where some folks said they couldn't really get into female pop vocals. I for one love female pop vocals. In fact, I can think of a few female vocalists/bands where I feel the music/songwriting is sorta so-so, but I liked them anyway just because of the sound and feel of the female vocals -- whereas run of the mill music with male vocals usually just plain bores me, no matter how good the vocalist is. Hmmm...
