I don't know if there are/were any Swansons fans on this list...I
don't think I'd classify them as insanely great pop, or even insanely
great...but they weren't horrible either...

At any rate, I just learned that Alec Hodel, who led the band and wrote
their material (and who I knew from his other life as a Ph.D. scientist
and later professor) took his own life recently (following a long battle
with depression)...

He was a really nice, really funny, REALLY smart guy, and whether or not this was
a major loss for music, it was definitely a major loss...
