"Workshop of the Telescopes" has a great first CD, and an only okay second 
one, but definitely worth having. I tend to lean towards the early records, 
though, so you may like the later, less strange,stuff on the second disc 
better!  Radios appear............

The MC5 record you're thinking of is "Back In The USA", their poppiest 
record. Not really like their other records. "Kick Out The Jams" was a 
raw,distorted, raucous, ass-kicking live performance, "High Time" was more 
experimental, with longer, less poppy tunes.  But the best of ("Big Bang")  
has a good blend of the stuff. I'd say it's a must have, just to sing along 
with "American Ruse"!
