Since we're talking about our losses I'll add one for no reason whatsoever.

I had a portable cd player and headphones stolen from my hotel room while in
NYC a few years back. It had the Beach Boys "Endless Harmony" collection in
the player. So now I have an extra copy of the jewel case and booklet.

I had $20,000 in camera equipment in the room but they didn't touch that.
Guess they figured they could get away with the small item. Despite having a
"Do Not Disturb" sign on the room and electronic entry cards the hotel said
they couldn't help me or figure out who the thief (read: which employee)
was.
