I had to check that, too.  First I'd heard of it.  But, lo and behold, I
found a story on FoxNews.com dated November 2002:

Coming from out of the shadows to say...WHAT!? Uh, I tend to follow EC
pretty closely(obviously not close enough), but when did he and Cait split
up? I mean, the man just released a blasting tribute to their love not even
a year ago.
