> Hootie, for that matter. (On a related note, it's really unfortunate that > Hootie got labeled as a lite-rock band for yuppies, because they used to play around Hampton Roads all the time, and they always gave incredibly > tight performances whenever I saw them.). I always thought the Hootie boys got a bad rap too. I've always liked the first album, and I think they were (wittingly or unwittingly) dumped into the jock-rock/yuppie music with that damned Dan Marino video. That, I think, was when the backlash really started. That said, a couple years ago Mark Bryan, the band's lead guitar player, put out a fine album of power-pop produced by Don Dixon that counted Peter Holsapple among the backing musicians. And, of course, Peter was Hootie's touring utility player for its first two tours. I don't think he would have signed on if he hadn't considered them worthwhile. John.
