I'm a bit late with catching up on digests so forgive me because I'm commenting on something from a few days ago. Steve wrote "Deliverance - I think this is a little gem of a record, and a great return to form, even though Lisa Miller's version of "Words For Sadness" from her lovely "Car Tape" record knocks the bands version into a cocked hat - like Robert Wyatt's "Shipbuilding", it makes the original version sound like it's the cover." You could make a case that the You Am I version IS the cover version because Tim wrote the song specificaly for Lisa and the Car Tape project. He liked how it turned out so much that he got You Am I to record a version for the Deliverance album. But can a version of your own song be called a cover version......? Steve is right in saying that Lisa's version is great. You could all do a lot worse than getting Car Tape. The whole album is great! Love Dave www.purepop.com.au
