I'm less convinced it's copy protection, despite my snarky comments to that effect, and more convinced it's just some kind of glitch in the disc. If it *is* copy protection, it's the weakest ever... I've talked to a few people who've had problems (less severe) than mine with "The Instigator," and in all cases (except Mark's, I'm assuming from his software list) they were unable to rip from it using OS9, but had no problems in OSX or with whatever other machine they had. I just don't see even the stupidest major label going, "Hey, let's fix it so that people running an outdated Macintosh OS can't burn copies of this! HAhahahaha!" But, acknowledging Miles's tongue-in-cheek comment for what it was, I still have to say seriously: My Macs really don't ever crash. :-) Five machines over ten years, three crashes total (including these). (I do, however, recognize that other Macs in the world are not as well behaved as mine.) So when one goes down twice while doing the same thing, the only two times I've tried to *do* that thing, the crack analytical team that works in my head starts drawing conclusions, ya know? Thanks, all, for your input...
