You should be psyched Kelly. Just saw this show at NY's Town Hall - one of the best rooms in the city as noted by both Rhett & Neil - and it was an exceptional evening. Rhett is performing sans Instigators. I was initially somewhat disappointed as the band during his headline show last year was very good and served the songs well. However, his enthusiasm and showmanship makes this acoustic setting a great performance. I think the songs work better live than they did on his CD though I must admit to being a real sucker for 'Come Around' and found it to be one of my favorites of '02. Neil gave one of the best performances I have seen of his as a solo performer. {As an aside, nothing will ever top Crowded House backing Roger McGuinn in Santa Barbara. The songs on that ByrdHouse CD are truly outstanding.} I was a little disappointed in the show he gave at Irving Plaza six months ago as his guitar playing was minimized and the band was not as tight as they were this time around. For this show - and on Conan Friday night - his keyboard player Lisa Germano was absent. She was caring for an ill friend. To me, this forced Neil to be somewhat more elemental in his delivery - perhaps the intention all along - and made for a more focused show. His guitar playing is really quite good and deserves to be highlighted more often. It was a swell show and deserving of your "eeee".
