and, at the other end of the pop spectrum, All the Pain $ Can Buy from
Fastball.  This is IMHO a really good cd - instantly catchy song after song.
so whatever happened to these guys?  one hit wonders?  i have their
subsequent cd Harsh Light of Day - if i remember, i liked it tho not as much
as Pain.  apparently these guys are coming to my town (Pittsburgh) and
playing at some small neighborhood bar -- Moondogs on 2/14.  I'll have to
give them a few fresh listens to see if i want to check them out.

In response to Dave's post, Fastball are getting back together. Miles Zuniga 
has re-joined the band. Miles and Tony Scalzo will be touring as a duo and 
leaving the drummer at home. There's a short update on Fastball in the XLent 
section of the Austin American Statesman (www.statesman.com) today.
