I definitely give Hawaii the thumbs-up. Haven't heard Gideon Gaye, but also agree that the later albums, while they tend to sound great, just go through the motions, though I don't claim to have heard them all. I'll also put in a word for Sean O'Hagan's prior band Microdisney. Their 'The Clock Comes Down the Stairs' LP is a bit of a grower, but it's great, and can be found for a few bucks on Ebay every couple weeks. And, on a personal note, my record label is very proud to be licensing the release of former Microdisney (and Fatima Mansions) frontman Cathal Coughlan's third solo album. I'd guess about 3 people on this list may have heard of him and/or have an interest, but those that do really ought to check out his latest. Great stuff in the Scott Walker-meets-Nick Cave-meets-Kurt Weill vein. www.stoppopandroll.com/cc_main.html - Aaron -----Original Message----- From: russell hayward [mailto:spiltmilk_2000@yahoo.co.uk] Sent: Thursday, January 30, 2003 12:51 PM To: audities@smoe.org Subject: High Llamas...
