hey auditeers, poking in around the NotLame website in disbelief, i discover that it's true, it's true! the DG oeuvre is really honest-to-christ on sale through a commercial outlet and they are totally reasonably priced, so let me offer this advice: if you're thinking you need these records, and i'm thinking you do, get em while they're hot n gettable, my friends. Because, sure, DG is a tireless creator of charming, effervescent tunes that bubble up under your grey matter like a lethal cocktail of Poprocks and Dr Pepper, and sure he doesn't skimp on the lush arrangements and sonic details that cause a pop freak's hearts to soar even as the lyrics break it (well, some lyrics more than others), but given his notorious love-hate relationship with the pop music machine, there's no telling when these glorious suckers might be yanked from the general purvue, thereby causing interested seekers endless grief when they have to track down the man himself on his only-intermittantly-working email address and shell out $40 per cd. The music's worth it, but why not make it easy on yourself? By which I mean to say: RUN, don't walk. Really. NotLame. Really. In related news, I understand that some kind soul has talked this same artist off the ledge once more (alan haber, are you out there?), and despite lyrics to the contrary ("..this'll be my last/ album for awhile" from '01's "album" on One Brick Short) Grahame has something slated for a spring release (April Fool's perhaps? And perhaps the joke's really on me then.) I would like some corroboration on this please, if anyone has any (John B? Bruce?) - a gal has her sources, but sometimes she can only trust them so far, after all. What the man has already put out there is plenty to keep the fan fires burning anyway, but I expect great things if this news is the real deal; a little more time taken, a little more care given, and of course, more of the same infectious ditties that have been plaguing me for the past year or so. If there IS a release, I'll be lining up for it, anyway - of this, I am positive. On a wholey unrelated note, I am pleased that my special order candy hearts have just come in, with personalized "stalker talk" messages imprinted on them: anyone want some? I had to buy 10 lbs, but it was worth it just to be able to put a heart that says "I M N YR CLOSET" on that special someone's pillow this valentine's day. Also available: "U R RIGHT 4 ME," "I KNOW WHERE U LIVE," "I LIKE HOW U SMELL" and my personal favorite "4EVER OR ELSE." --kelly ===== oderint dum mentuant __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
