Ok that's just awesome! I'm having the $1000 printed as I type!

It really is a terrific album and I have no idea where I got it, but I've had it for years. Every so often, a song comes up on rotation and I'll think, "What a great song, who is that?"

I really appreciate the detailed info. There actually is a band from the early 90's called Happyhead, but it isn't these guys. That one is one Discogs, but this one isn't. there is an entry for Richard Hymas, but only as a supporting musician on other people's records. Same with Mike Hallett.

Thanks very much Jay - the Audities list, while not as active as back in the day, is still the best encyclopedia of power pop info on the planet.

Best,
Rick

Ok, challenge accepted. First off, the band is Happyhead, not The Happy Heads. The self titled sole release by the band was released in 1999. Band was Richard Hymas gtr/ voc. Geoff Beale bass & backing voc, Steve Manders drums. All songs were written by Richard Hymas and Mike Hallett, who were both (along with Geoff Beale) previously in a band called The Stop, who released one single in 1989. I believe these bands/ were based in or around Weymouth UK since Mike Hallett had a studio there where he produced many other artists. I discovered Happyhead from the track ‘Breathe For Me’ which was included on the Pink Hedgehog records sampler “Ear Candy”, which I liked so much that I wrote the band. I was able to buy the Happyhead album plus a bonus 5 song ep entitled The Stop- The Early Demos. These were cdrs and the case inlays are all glossy printer paper so obviously homemade. Not sure if there was an official label release.
I agree that this album is really strong and they deserved more attention. The Hymas-Hallett collaboration seems to have ended with Happyhead and members have drifted in other musical directions. I hope this is sufficient to qualify for the $1000. Let me know when you’re ready to send it and I’ll provide details on where to send it! Lol...

    > Rick - Where is the band from? I’ve managed to track down a few l obscure bands by making inquiries of the local record stores from where they came from. I also put up the music on YouTube and got comments from people who has seen the band play. I even managed to trace one the band members, in one case. I.e. this album, which someone found for me in a thrift store in Texas:
