I'm unsure why the two links to Bandcamp for each of the artists didn't display properly as a link.  I'm sorry about that.  Afraid of attempting it again and repeating myself.  The songs can easily be found on both Michael Carpenter's Bandcamp page and Sunshine On Mars on Futureman Records Bandcamp page.  Enjoy your weekend.  We're getting hunkered down for a hurricane.  Stay safe.

 Gene,

Wonderful write-up on Dana Countryman's album.  In your review you wrote, "Last is a full length unnamed tune with nifty vocal harmonies. Not a throw away".  I was surprised and honored that Dana decided to include the song "Welcomed Here" by The Gerbils, a regional garage band in Hawaii in the mid-seventies.  That was a song that I wrote with my childhood friend Jerry Yamamoto when we were twelve years old for our garage band back then.  As kids we were trying to be Hawaii's Lennon & McCartney, as young adults attempted to be Hawaii's Difford & Tilbrook and in middle age had hoped to reach the excellence of Collingwood & Schlesinger.  Of course we never got anywhere near the excellence of any of those composers or the many others that influenced us, but that song from our pre-teen years was fun to compose and perform live.  We had no idea that decades later it would resurface on albums from various artists like Michael Carpenter (2016's "S.O.O.P. #6 - Songs Of Other People" released on Big Radio Records), Maple Mars (2010's "Galaxyland" released by Kool Kat Music as a bonus track) and Sunshine On Mars (self-titled album released on Futureman Records in 2012).  Other artists over the years have recorded the song without releasing it officially, but for the fun of it, including Tracy Bonham, Lisa Mychols & Tom Richards, Rob Bonfiglio, Dave Stephens and The Wellingtons.  It's always touched my heart that artists have tackled this song composed by two kids on Maui who haven't quite reached their teenage years and loved strumming the guitar and playing the piano.  I love how Dana Countryman took our song as a bonus track on his CD release of the album and gave it the vibe as if Richard Carpenter had recorded it as one of the songs you may have found on an album by The Carpenters in the early seventies.  :-)
