Hi all,
This may come as old news to most or all of you, but I recently stumbled
into Julian Cope's 'Head Heritage' web site and I must say I found his
album reviews to be quite engaging regardless of agreeing or not.
Having been a Teardrop Explodes fan in the early 80s I must confess I lost
track of Julian Cope's musical output by the late 80's.
But this message has no intention of discussing the merits (or lack
thereof) of the Teardrop Explodes and Julian Cope's solo careers.
I found very interesting reading Julian Cope's insight into the music of
such diverse artists as Beach Boys, Kiss, Cream, The Who, The Soft Machine,
and Van der Graaf Generator, to name some of the mainstream acts on the
list.
So, if you have the time and interest, I think you may find some
interesting reviews on is 'unsung' page, described as 'a colossal
repository of rockânâroll writing â a Gnostic Odyssey through lost and
forgotten freakouts' (https://www.headheritage.co.uk/unsung/) :
There you can find:
i) Album of the Month - monthly reviews of one-off classics by obscure
artists (German Oak, Todd Clark, Sir Lord Baltimore) and obscure classics
by great artists (Black Sabbath, Miles Davis, Alice Cooper).
https://www.headheritage.co.uk/unsung/albumofthemonth/
ii) The Book of Seth - opportunity to provide a platform for one of his
most trusted and beloved rockânâroll compadres.
https://www.headheritage.co.uk/unsung/thebookofseth/
iii) Reviews - https://www.headheritage.co.uk/unsung/reviews/
Enjoy!
Best,
Paulo
