Today Robin Wills posted a stunning, slightly glam 1974 song called "Hey Girl" today on his Pure Pop blog from an obscure group from Spain called Zebra.

He said this single was all he'd heard from them and wanted to know if there were more gems. I love the song so did some searching and found a collection of their 7 singles (both A & B's) and their 1976 lp. Being they're hopelessly obscure and evidently not reissued, I'm posting a link here to the collection (already notified Robin).

My review: Wonderful 70s melodic, harmonic pop music, some soft pop and a bit of Mersey. Plus 2 of the singles are in Spanish. The lp reminds me quite a bit of Stories (Michael Brown). Have always enjoyed Los Bravos & Los Brincos, but never expected to hear Spanish 70s California music.

Zebra, from ex-members of Z-66 and Los Bravos (Zee + Bra). Spanish pop/progressive rock band founded by Miguel Vicens (bass) and singer Anthony Anderson (brother of Jon Anderson from Yes) both ex-Los Bravos, with David Walsmley (guitar), Joan Bibiloni (guitar) and Manolo Marà (drums) in 1971. Anderson and Vicens quit in 1972, replaced by Albert Candela on bass and Bibiloni on vocals. They released 7 singles and 1 album in 1976. They broke up that same year. Joan Bibiloni later became a well known Spanish jazz guitarist.
